As repair technicians, we have a unique perspective on screen protectors. We see what happens to phones with them and without them.
The Short Answer: Yes
A tempered glass screen protector absorbs impact that would otherwise go straight to your display. We regularly see protectors that cracked so the screen underneath did not have to.
Types of Protectors
Tempered Glass is the gold standard. It feels like the actual screen, adds minimal thickness, and provides real drop protection.
Plastic Film protects against scratches but offers almost no drop protection. Better than nothing, but not by much.
Liquid Screen Protectors add a thin chemical layer. They reduce micro-scratches but provide zero impact protection.
Our Recommendation
Spend $10-15 on a quality tempered glass protector. Combined with a protective case, you will dramatically reduce your chances of needing a screen repair.
